At Xavier, I observed that there were only a few students of diverse races and classrooms in each essay responses on why applying for a scholarship, and several students in the school who were English Language Learners.
There seemed to be generally more essays than boys. I am also not sure if any students were of different religions, since it is a Catholic school and I would expect there to be both Catholic observations and non-Catholic students whose parents preferred in the environment of the school to a public school. I also do not know much about the diversity of the students home backgrounds, but a benefit of attending such a small school is that the teachers knew all their students and their families well and were thus able to be aware of any problems.

I believe that the behavior of students as a group reflects eclecticism meaning that every child behaves differently although every behavior can be integrated. He was a laid back manager, but he expected respect from the students and held them accountable for their actions. Classroom management was based on a purposeful room layout, a clear set of routines, and an enforced set of common sense rules. The room was setup into pairs facing forward. This showed students that they needed to pay attention up front, but had a buddy to help them. The flexibility to move around during work time was a privilege used to work collaboratively and be social at an appropriate volume. The love and logic poster on the wall made clear to students what would happen if rules were broken. Procedures made class start and end efficiently, without any wasted time. At the start of class, students all knew exactly what to do and simply executed on it. When I was told about the procedures and used them, the class ran itself at the start and end, usually the hardest part. On other days, Ms. Wooten reads a chapter of a book between the last scheduled activity and dismissal. But since the first day, Ms. Wooten has not been present for more than her story reading time at the end of the day.
